A 365 Photo Challenge Update: July

yourimagetitle

I've gotten into the habit of uploading my photos for the week on Sundays. Not sure if I like that approach, though. But most days I don't always have the time to upload on the spot, (like if I take a photo at work), so I forget by the time bedtime rolls around, and therefore I just wait until Sunday to go through them all again!

Anyways, I'm feeling like I've hit kind of a stagnant point in this challenge. I don't really know what to take photos of anymore! They're all getting more and more random, it seems, but at least you've gotten a couple of previews of my doodling/artwork!! (see: first and last photos, above).

As of last night, I'm on day 93.

Keep up with my photos on Instagram: @flowersandsilence

Stay tuned,
G.

365 Photo Challenge update!

yourimagetitle

If you recall, back in April I decided to start a 365/photo a day challenge. I'm proud to report that I'm officially on day 60!!!

However, I do have to admit, that while I would love to be able to say that I've taken one singular photo on each day so far, there was a week in May that I was super sick and I ended up taking 3 photos in one day that week... And there may or may not have been, (okay, there totally was), a few times when I took a photo one day, and decided I didn't like it, so I didn't upload on that day, and ended up taking another photo the next day.  But hey, at least I'm admitting it, right?!  For the most part, though, yes. I've been snapping photos every day!

So far, I've noticed that I enjoy taking photos of my shoes, and random things that I find while out and about.  I think the ones involving the outdoors/some form of nature are the ones that end up the best.

And now the website that I took this challenge from, (International Geek Girl Pen Pals), recently announced a new, non-photo taking challenge to try out.  I'm thinking of attempting the 30 Day Comic Book Challenge where you read a different comic every day, that correlates with a key word for that day. It sounds too exciting and like a good chance to discover some new comics that I might enjoy, since I'm so new to the comic-reading thing.

Of course, I will post when/if I start!

Until next time,

G.

a 365 Photo Challenge (aka "What the heck have I gotten myself into?!")

Hello there! Hope everyone had a nice long weekend.. Personally, mine was too short. It feels like I've been really busy lately, (hence why I haven't blogged much), and the entire weekend kind of passed by with me feeling weird.. Kind of like I woke up every day with a dark cloud hanging over my head. I can't explain it, but I guess I was just feeling a bit blue and low on energy. Maybe it had to do with thinking about/missing my grandfather, but I definitely felt better come Monday, (which is strange, if you think about it, but whatever!)

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to embark on one of those "365/photo a day challenge" things, just for fun.  I went with the Igglebugs 365 Photo Challenge, through the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club community, (check it out if you've never heard of it! If you're any kind of a geek like I am, you will love it - there's a forum and so many activities to keep you entertained, and you can even sign up for a pen pal to snail mail with!)

So far, I've been keeping up! Here are some of the photos, (but certainly not all of them). To see the rest, and what's to come, you can follow my Instagram feed @flowersandsilence.

Let me know what you think! Have you ever done a challenge like this or have you been considering it??

Dolls, Toys, and Taking Photos

Meet the newest addition to my Monster High doll collection.

Monday again. I hope you had a nice weekend!  On Saturday, I hung out with a friend and we had a lot of fun shopping and chatting for hours. Sunday I worked on drawing for a tiny bit and some other stuff.

The friend I saw on Saturday is a huge fan of dolls and toys, (like I am!). We hadn't seen each other since before my birthday in January, so she presented me with a belated gift: Monster High Skelita, Art Class edition! (see the photo of it above: a choice more fitting than she even realizes!). As we browsed the latest selections at Toys 'R Us and Target I got to thinking that I need a special little toy to use as one of those 'props' to use whenever (and wherever) I take a photo. (Kind of like the 'traveling garden gnome' thing?)

I have way too many toys to choose from: Monster High Dolls, stuffed animals, figurines, etc.  So it's hard to choose just ONE special one that can travel with me in my purse for me to photograph at a moment's notice when I happen to find myself somewhere special. A doll might be just too big to carry around, so I want something smaller. I'm leaning the most towards either one of my Hello Kitty figures or the My Little Pony Dr. Whooves figurine that I keep on my bedside shelf, as it would be fitting to make it seem like he's on one of his adventures through space and time, but I'm not sure...

My mom actually suggests that I follow in actress Aimee Teegarden 's Instagramming-footsteps and buy myself a "Peas in a Pod" set (from Toy Story 3!) to use. We both read about her in some celeb magazine, and after looking up Aimee's Instagram account, where she posts photos of the little peas sitting on the table at restaurants or riding with her on a plane, I am simply dying to get my hands on one of those little zippered pouches! But of course, I don't want to seem like a copy cat, either, so I don't know!  (Seriously though, how ADORABLE are those little peas?!?)

Do you have any special toys/props you like to feature in your photos?  Let me know! I need ideas!

Have a good start to your week!

UPDATE: I totally caved in and bought myself a peas-in-the-pod plushie set! I'm not sure I'll use it as my photo prop, but I can't wait for it to arrive!
